Positive reviews for Traces

Thanks to all of you who have bought our new EP Traces, whether the digipak or the download; all money goes direct to the band and supports our efforts to gig widely and bring you a full-length album as soon as possible. If you don’t have a copy yet, they are available at twilightsembrace.bandcamp.com.

The first reviews for Traces have been filtering through:

OneMetal.com said it features “the kind of song-writing talent that most bands take years to develop”.

NoCleanSinging.com call it “a solid offering of dark melodic death metal with strong melodies and heavy-hitter rhythms.

SubEchoes awarded Traces 8.5 out of 10, though our Greek is sadly not quite good enough to tell you precisely why!

We’re still working on arranging some live dates, and will post more details as we get them.

“Traces” release date: 6th April 2012

As promised, we have been working on a new EP, and subject to manufacturing and delivery, the release date will be Friday April 6th.

The record is called Traces, featuring three tracks:

  1. The Path (5:28)
  2. The Final Night (6:19)
  3. Demons (9:08)

As with its predecessor Reflections, the three songs cover a lot of ground and showcase different aspects of the band’s music. Opening track ‘The Path’ can be streamed on our ReverbNation page.

The EP will be available as a digital download and as a limited edition hand-numbered digipak. This run is limited to 100 copies so order early if you want to avoid missing out. To buy, visit Bandcamp where you can pick up Traces, Reflections, and our logo t-shirts.

Plans for 2012

Since our last gig in October we have been quiet, but not idle. As mentioned in our last post, we have been working on our new EP, but due to technical problems the recording process has taken longer than originally planned, with the last track due to be captured in the next 14 days. Then comes the various mixing and mastering steps, as well as the cd production itself, but we’re confident to have the final result with you very shortly.

Right now, we only have one gig in the pipeline, and that is at The Maze in Nottingham on Friday April 6th where we hope to play a mixture of old and new Twilight’s Embrace material. Over the spring and summer period we’ll be looking to reach some new venues as well as revisit old ones to bring the TE live experience to as many people as possible. If you want to see us at a venue near you, get in touch, and we’ll see what we can do.

Autumn news

Thanks to everybody who attended the Witching Hour fest in Wakefield last Saturday, where we got to share the stage with some of the best bands that the underground UK metal scene has to offer. We have just 2 more gigs planned for this year. These are likely to be the last ones in support of the ‘Reflections’ EP, with probably no further dates until the new EP is released, so come along if you can!

Saturday October 15th - The Old Bell, Derby - all-dayer with Toxic Federation, Methysis, Evil Scarecrow, Nephwrack, and more.

Saturday October 29th - The Old Wharf, Birmingham - DJ Beerman Presents a Halloween Special! With Hærken, Frantic Empire, Adust, and L Sol Tace.

We have almost finished writing for the new EP, with just one set of lyrics yet to be penned. Pre-production is under way and recording will take place over the next couple of months, with a view to a late November or early December release. We’ll be taking pre-orders for this - further details to come!

Gig news

Firstly, a big thank you to everybody who came to our Bloodstock appearance and made it truly special.

On to the news - sorry for the very late notice, but tonight’s gig at Scruffy Murphys in Birmingham has been cancelled due to promotional issues beyond our control.

However, we will be appearing in Birmingham later this year, at the Beerman Presents event at The Old Wharf. Our forthcoming gig list is as follows:

Saturday August 27th - The Old Angel, Nottingham - with Ancient Ascendant, Orylyus, and Sephirothic.

Saturday September 16th - The Snooty Fox, Wakefield - Witching Hour Fest 2011, with Old Corpse Road, Eibon la Furies, Burial, and more.

Saturday October 15th - The Old Bell, Derby - all-dayer with Toxic Federation, Sephirothic, Evil Scarecrow, Nephwrack, and more.

Saturday October 29th - The Old Wharf, Birmingham - DJ Beerman Presents a Halloween Special! With Hærken, Frantic Empire, and L Sol Tace.

Activity this summer

Our main task right now is to finish writing and arranging material for our next release, which is due out later this year. Expect a similar style to Reflections, with a few variations on the theme.

We are also rehearsing the setlist for the next batch of gigs, where we’ll be showcasing two new tracks - time permitting! These gigs are Bloodstock Open Air on Friday August 12th, Scruffy Murphys in Birmingham on Monday 21st August, and The Old Angel in Nottingham on Saturday August 27th.

Bloodstock Festival

We’re pleased to announce that our next planned gig is an appearance at the prestigious Bloodstock Festival on Friday August 12th on the Unsigned Stage. More details on the event can be found at www.bloodstock.uk.com, and the Last.fm event is here.

We hope to see you there!

Brief update

The June 12th gig has been cancelled due to Northern Oak sadly becoming unavailable. We hope to reschedule that gig for later in the year!

We have several great gigs lined up for the summer and autumn, and will post details here shortly.

We are also working on material for our second release which we hope to have done later this year. This will continue the themes found in Reflections while expanding in slightly new directions. We’ll post up some more details once recording is under way.

Happenings

Twilight’s Embrace are booking gigs and hope to make it to venues across the country this spring and summer. Currently booked are:

  • Sunday April 3rd - Mentholmans @ West Street Live in Sheffield, supporting Northern Oak, also featuring Setsudan and Impale The Sky
  • Sunday June 12th - The Old Angel in Nottingham, again with Northern Oak and other acts to be announced
  • August 27th - The Old Angel in Nottingham, this time supporting Ancient Ascendant and Sephirothic.

Available for purchase at the gigs will be copies of our Reflections EP and t-shirts, the latter of which are currently being printed.

Further gigs are in the pipeline, so stay tuned.
